SUMMARY:Understanding Harm in Therapy for Neurodivergent Clients
DESCRIPTION:About this event \nIn this workshop\, we will explore some of the different ways neurodivergent clients can be particularly vulnerable to harm occurring in therapy. \nExploring relational harm\, boundary violations and exploitation; looking at how we might be attentive to the potential for harm in our practices; considering the impact of our own relationships with harm; rupture/repair processes\, and learning more about working with neurodivergent people who have been harmed in previous therapy. \nHow might this workshop impact your practice? \nParticipants will feel more confident in thinking about our relationships with harm in therapy\, particularly with neurodivergent clients. \nAnd \, leave feeling more equipped to work with rupture with neurodivergent clients\, and feeling more skilled and prepared when neurodivergent clients who have histories of being harmed in therapy consult with us. \nTakeaways – Tools you’ll walk away with \n1 Understanding harm in therapy for ND clients \n2 Working effectively with potential for harm in our own practices \n3 Feeling prepared for working with ND clients with previous harmful experiences \nAbout your Speaker: \nErin (she/they) is a Therapist\, Supervisor and Trainer working online in private practice. \nThey specialise in working in therapy and consultation with people who have had previous harmful experiences of therapy\, and in supervision and training with therapists who are interested in engaging with therapy harm. \nErin is AuDHD\, white\, queer and from a working class background.
