These are the Terms and Conditions for the Counsellors’ Staffroom Find a therapist or supervisor service. These Terms and Conditions encompass our Privacy Policy .
Please read these terms and conditions and our Privacy Policy carefully before you send us your details and data in relation to our Find a therapist or supervisor service. By submitting your details and data via our website form you indicate that you have read, understand and accept these terms and our Privacy Policy and that you agree to be bound, without limitation or qualification, to all of these terms and conditions. You acknowledge that you have not relied on any statement, assurance, promise, representation or warranty made or given by or on behalf of us which is not set out in these terms and that you shall have no claim for innocent or negligent misrepresentation based on any statement in these terms.
The Counsellors’ Staffroom is based in the UK and these terms apply under English law. Any legal proceedings in relation to these terms must be made in the English courts. If a court finds part of this contract illegal, the remainder will continue in full force and effect.
- 1. Who is the Counsellors’ Staffroom?
The Counsellors’ Staffroom is a welcoming and private membership space for counsellors and psychotherapists to find support, content and develop professionally alongside peers.
We offer this Find a therapist or supervisor service to help people searching for a therapist or supervisor to connect with our qualified therapist Members for the purposes of sourcing counselling, psychotherapy or supervision services. This service also supports our Members by providing relevant referrals for their private practices.

- 2. How our Find a therapist or supervisor service works
a) To use our service you will need to provide us with your name, a valid email address and details of your therapy or supervisor requirements via our Find a therapist or supervisor service.
b) On receipt of the contact form we will contact our member community with your requirements, omitting your name and contact details.
c) Counsellors’ Staffroom Members who believe they meet your requirements will contact the Counsellors’ Staffroom team.
d) We will email you the names and contact details or professional profiles of a maximum of 6 therapists or supervisors who believe they meet your requirements.
e) You contact the therapists or supervisors you are interested in working with and contract with them directly.
f) There is no fee to use this service. You are responsible for discussing, agreeing and paying the counselling or psychotherapy fee with the therapist or supervisor you choose to work with.
- 3. About our Find a therapist or supervisor Service
- The Counsellors’ Staffroom does not provide therapy or supervision, and these terms are not an agreement to provide this. Our Find a therapist or supervisor service is limited to providing you with the names and contact details of qualified therapists who are subscribed Members of the Counsellors’ Staffroom community platform who have told us they meet the requirements you have stated in the enquiry form.
- Any contract for therapy or supervision services, and any discussion about payment, acceptance of healthcare insurance, session availability, cancellation agreement, or any other service provision will be exclusively and directly with the therapist or supervisor you decide to work with, not with the Counsellors’ Staffroom.
- There is no charge for you to access this service for the purposes of finding a suitable therapist or supervisor. We hold no responsibility or liability for the provision or quality of the service.
- By submitting your details via our website you agree that the information and data (name, email address, age, details of therapist or supervisor requirements) you provide to us will be accurate, true and complete.
- We will process the data and information you provide in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
- Please be aware that any use of email systems, forms and other electronic communication is at risk of being accessed by unauthorised third parties. We therefore cannot ensure the safety of the information you provide, so please be aware of this before providing data or information, especially sensitive information, on our enquiry form.
- While we endeavour to supply you with the details of Members who have stated they meet your requirements you may find other services or ways to access therapy will be more suited to your requirements, availability or budget.
- If you no longer wish to receive our email communication with suggestions of therapists or supervisors, please let us know via email at contact@counsellors-staffroom.co.uk.
- To use this service you must be 18 years of age or older. If you are under the age of 18 please ask a parent, carer or guardian to complete this form on your behalf. The person who completes this form for you will be indicating they have read, understand and accept these terms and our Privacy Policy and they agree to be bound, without limitation or qualification, to all of those terms and conditions. They acknowledge they have not relied on any statement, assurance, promise, representation or warranty made or given by or on behalf of us which is not set out in these terms and they shall have no claim for innocent or negligent misrepresentation based on any statement in these terms.
- 4. Our Members
- Our Members are solely and exclusively responsible for the information they provide on our platform and when responding to enquiries on this service. We expressly disclaim any any and all liability for the information provided by our counsellor, psychotherapist or supervisor Members for this service including, without limitation, the reliability or accuracy of the data, information or content provided.
- We do not hold liability for fraudulent credentials or claims supplied to us, or to you, by our Members.
- We do not hold liability for, or endorse, the information, details or any other data, links or materials supplied by our Members to you in the course of your communication or work with them.
- When a qualified counsellor or psychotherapist joins our Membership community they provide evidence to show that they have received a professional qualification that meets our Membership & Events Registration Criteria. We have not assessed their skills or abilities.
- We allow students in the final stages of their qualification to join our Membership. Student Members who are not yet qualified at Level 4 or above (in line with our Membership & Events Registration Criteria are not eligible to submit their details to this service.
- Please be aware that Members’ professional relationship with their professional membership body may have changed since they joined the Counsellors’ Staffroom membership. We recommend before starting a therapeutic relationship with one of our Members, or any counsellor or psychotherapist, that you check they appear on a PSA-registered professional membership body’s register, or equivalent, so you have recourse to action through the professional membership body if you are dissatisfied or harmed by their therapeutic work in any way.
- Please note, counselling and psychotherapy is not a regulated industry in the UK so counsellors and psychotherapists are not required to be a member of a professional membership body if they do not wish to be.
- 5. The provision of this service
- The provision of therapy is solely at our Members’ discretion. Our Members are under no obligation to accept you as a client or to start or continue to work with you as a client or in any other circumstance. Our Members may decide their services are not appropriate for your therapeutic needs and have the right to cease working with you at any point. Your contract for services is directly with our Member and we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your communication or relationship with our Members.
- You are responsible for checking that the counsellors or psychotherapist Member is suitably skills, qualified and appropriate to meet your therapeutic needs. It is solely your decision whether to work with any of the Members whose details we provide to you.
- No legal relationship will exist between you and Counsellors’ Staffroom with regard to the services or information provided to you by our Members.
- 6. Liability
- We reserve the right to withdraw or amend our Find a therapist or supervisor service at any time and without notice.
- We shall not be liable if our community platform, our service or our website (counsellors-staffroom.co.uk) is not available for any period of time (including under Force Majeure, if we are prevented from sending your requirements to our membership or responding to you because of an event or series of events beyond our control we will not be able to provide this service).
- Your statutory rights are not affected by these terms. To the extent permitted by English and Welsh law we hold no liability relating to the services advertised or provided by our Members or to the information and services provided by this website.
- We do not limit or exclude any liability that we cannot exclude by law, for example death or personal injury caused by our negligence or fraudulent misrepresentation.
- We do not hold liability for losses or damages, whether direct, indirect or consequential, arising from your use of our website or this Find a therapist or supervisor service, or any issues with the provision of this service.
- By agreeing to these terms and proceeding to submit your details to our Find a therapist or supervisor service you agree to fully indemnify, defend and hold harmless us, our Members, directors, employees, contractors, agents, service providers and third-party partners from and against all third party claims, costs, losses or liabilities relating to or arising in connecting with this service, with any illegal use of our website or services, any breach of your representations or warranties and/or any violation of these terms by you or anyone using your internet connection or devices to submit details to our service.
- If any part of this Agreement becomes unenforceable or invalid the other sections of this Agreement will remain valid and enforceable.
- Third parties have no rights or authority to enforce any of this Agreement.
- 7. Cancellation or termination
- Please be aware that if your requirements are worded in a way that could be considered offensive by our Members we reserve the right not to contact our members and delete the details you have provided.
- If at our sole discretion the Counsellors’ Staffroom team decides our Members are not best placed to meet your requirements we reserve the right not to contact our members with your requirements and to delete the details you have provided.
- You may terminate this Agreement at any time and at your discretion by contacting us at contact@counsellors-staffroom.co.uk or via our Contact Form. On request, we will delete the form you have provided us with and any reference to your requirements on our platform.
- 8. Complaints and feeback
- If you have any comments, feedback or complaints with regard to this specific service please contact us at contact@counsellors-staffroom.co.uk or via our Contact Form.
- If you have any comments, feedback or complaints about the therapy service you receive from a Member then please follow their own feedback or complaints procedure in the first instance. We hope you will have a successful therapeutic or supervision experience after using this service, but if you do have a complaint and you don’t receive a satisfactory outcome from the therapist or supervisor’s complaints process you may wish to contact their professional membership body, if they have one.
- We have no access to information as to whether you choose to engage with a therapist or supervisor whose details we have provided to you, and any agreement you enter into for therapy or supervision would be assumed to be in confidence between you and the therapist or supervisor only. We cannot assist or mediate with any comments, feedback or complaints because we hold no responsibility or liability for the service provided.
- If you feel a Member of our community has acted unethically and you wish to inform us of this please contact us at contact@counsellors-staffroom.co.uk. Please be aware we are a membership community to provide personal and professional support for therapists. We are not a professional membership body (we have Community Guidelines but no ethical framework). We expect our Members to behave in line with our Community Guidelines but we have no recourse to action over their practice as therapists or supervisors. Any action we take following receipt of a complaint about a Member is entirely at our discretion and we are under no obligation to inform you of whether we take action or the result of any action we take.
